Praline + Chicory

Black Louisiana Foodways

Mr. Walker begins with Dom’s grandfather, but its praline heart carries an older New Orleans story. After emancipation, Black women known as pralinieres sold homemade pecan pralines throughout the city, turning sweetness into livelihood, independence, and legacy. Chicory became part of Louisiana coffee when blockades made beans scarce, then stayed because New Orleans made the flavor its own. Together, they tell a story of making something lasting from what was available.

Sno-Ball Country

A Louisiana Summer Tradition

Dom grew up knowing a sno-ball is not a snow cone, cher. A New Orleans sno-ball is shaved to order until the ice is soft and fluffy enough to soak up every drop of syrup. Part of the city’s street-food culture by the early 1900s, the neighborhood treat changed forever when Ernest Hansen and George Ortolano independently built motorized ice-shaving machines in the 1930s. Our dye-free NOLA Snoball Elixirs carry that summer tradition into matcha, lemonade and energy—the same joy, poured our way.
